Con el objetivo de incentivar el interés y mejorar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes en las disciplinas relativas a la conservación y restauración del patrimonio construido, se ha llevado a cabo este proyecto, desarrollado por algunos profesores y estudiantes del Máster Universitario en Conservación y Restauración del Patrimonio Arquitectónico y del Taller de Cantería de la ETS de Arquitectura de la UPM en colaboración con la Fundación Monasterio Santa María de Rioseco. El proyecto, en el que se ha combinado la alta cualificación teórica con el trabajo manual y de campo ha consistido en la realización de los estudios necesarios de los restos encontrados en el monasterio —que pudieron pertenecer a las arcadas del claustro de la Hospedería— para determinar si, a partir de ellos, es posible restituir idealmente la configuración inicial de éste. Enlazada estrechamente con el método académico, encontramos una finalidad social en la que este proyecto tiene como otro de sus objetivos potenciar y sensibilizar a la sociedad en cuanto a la necesidad de salvaguardar el patrimonio.
Abstract
With the aim of stimulating interest and improving student learning in the disciplines related to the conservation and restoration of built heritage, this project has been carried out by some lecturers and students of the Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Heritage and the Stonemasonry Workshop (“Taller de cantería”) of the ETS of Architecture of the UPM, in collaboration with the Santa María de Rioseco Monastery Foundation. The project, which combined high theoretical qualifications with manual and field work, consisted of carrying out the necessary studies of the remains found in the monastery —which may have belonged to the arcades of the cloister of the “Hospedería”— in order to determine whether, on the basis of these remains, it is possible to ideally restore the initial configuration of the monastery. Closely linked to the academic method, we find a social purpose in which this project has as another of its objectives to empower and raise awareness in society of the need to safeguard heritage.
