The parpóse of this work is to valídate the thermai welding cycle obtained experimentally with the metal inertgas (MIG) weldingprocess orí a 6063-T5 aluminium tubularprofile using thefinite element method. The assembly formed by the tubular profile and the weld bead obtained experimenta lly is represented in an accnrate way, taking care ofboth the geometiy and the contour ofthe weld bead. The precisión achieved in the mtmerical-experimental validation carried out by means ofthe finite element method is due to the care that has been taken in drawing the welded piece together with the weld bead made experimenta lly In the validation carried out, the experimental and nnmerical cooling curves and the critica! cooling time between 400 and 300 °C (tAI3f) in both calves are compared.
