The INDEPTH Project has demonstrated that significant technical and economical benefits in the design and upgrade of petrochemical plants, can be achieved by using passive control techniques like seismic isolation and energy dissipation.
This document is based on the conclusions and main results of INDEPTH and aims at providing support to the Designers who are going to build new facilities, or retrofit existingones, in highly seismic zones. In particular, these Guidelines provide criteria for the selection of the more suitable devices for the protection of different components, illustrate the main features and performances of such devices and how numerically model and experimentallyqualify them.
INDEPTH partners warmly thank the European Commission for the financial support given to this project.
