This volume seeks to support part of the presentations corresponding to the course “Fundamentals of the theories of structures and their numerical calculation” of the Master’s Degree in Building Structures (MUEE) taught at the ETSAM, in its updated version since the 2020-2021 academic year, in which the theories of analysis and design useful in the conception and realization of building structures are based.
It presents in a unified way the deterministic approaches to analysis developed from the elastic and plastic (limit) theories, as well as an introduction to probabilistic approaches.
Tools for evaluating the effectiveness of the form in the initial phases of the project are presented.
While the solution to real problems usually requires numerical methods, the available discretization methods and their concrete implementation in the finite element method are presented.
