The project has been placed following the desire of the client to preserve two existing trees on the slope of a hill in between they wanted to create a place where they could both spend their nights and keep track of their surrounding cultivable land. This desire, along with a tight budget imposing limitations on cost, it became apparent that a new relationship with the existing slope of the site could be established to explore new ways of living and traversing the site. The idea of rising path leading to the uppermost vantage point initially came from a client sketch in which they show themselves on top of the house, outlining a broken-ramp composed of different gradients of ground running between the trees, creating a promenade to the top of the house. La ubicación del proyecto se debe a la elección por parte de los clientes de dos árboles en pendiente, entre los que situar una cabaña que permita pasar la noche y hacer un seguimiento del terreno cultivable de alrededor. Esta cierta inconsistencia de la casa en el comienzo, unida a un reducido presupuesto, permiten al proyecto cuestionar la relación con la pendiente del terreno y explorar alternativas que permitan ascender y habitar a un menor precio. El ascenso hasta el punto de observación se produce a partir de un primer dibujo de los clientes, en el que se situan a ellos mismos en la cubierta de la casa, y trazan entre los dos árboles una rampa quebrada en tramos de diferentes pendientes que se distancia poco a poco del terreno.
Dwelling the slant (en)
The horizontal plane is a human creation. This has become crucial in our everyday life, to the point that we cannot live without it. Nonetheless, there is no natural horizontal line on the Earth that we can really live on. The house tries to define the sloped plane as a dwelling space while also serving as a connection for the functional program of the house (living, dining, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and office). This is achieved by providing a 9m rise without the need for stairs. This sloped path is an extension of the existing slope of the hill, which allows the rooms to rest all the way along and generate a sort of overlap between roofs and inhabited spaces at its intersections. Shortcuts are created in terms of reaching all the rooms of the house.

El plano horizontal plano es un artificio del ser humano que ha cobrado importancia en el territorio de lo doméstico hasta llegar a ser incuestionable, y sin embargo, no existe ninguna horizontal natural que podamos habitar en el planeta. La casa plantea recuperar el plano inclinado como espacio habitable, capaz de dar acceso a las superficies horizontales que soportan el programa convencional de una casa (sala, comedor, cocina, baño, cama y oficina), en un desplazamiento que permite llegar a una altura de 9 metros sin subir escaleras. El programa se alinea por ello a lo largo de tres planos inclinados que prolongan la pendiente del terreno, generando varias cubiertas superpuestas, y en cuyo punto de unión se agujerean para poder ser habitadas y permitir atajos entre las diferentes partes del programa.
How to set up the furniture layout (en)
So long as we grow up, we change the way we interact with the ground. In our childhood, we see it as our playing field, but with the passage of the time, it becomes a purely practical space. Built on the slope, the house pretends to use the floor as a habitable space, making it easier for the adult occupants to approach, inviting them to take a seat and experience their gravity. At the same time, they enter a new relationship based on the proximity of the earth and the remoteness of the sea. An indeterminate space arises from it. The occupants are encouraged to rethink their pre-existing habits based on this deviation from standardised furniture.

El suelo, como principal campo de juego durante la infancia, se transforma normalmente a partir de cierta edad en un terreno distante debido a su horizontalidad. La casa en rampa pretende recuperar el suelo como territorio habitable, aproximándolo al adulto, invitándolo a sentarse en él y permitiéndole, gracias a su inclinación, tomar medida a la gravedad, mientras establece una relación cercana con el terreno y lejana con el mar. Se produce así un espacio indeterminado que sugiere al ocupante una reformulación de sus hábitos al crear un desacuerdo con el mobiliario estandarizado.
Using less to built
The central core, built in brick work, is enveloped in a ‘guadua cane’ structure which work like a scaffold. The three different slopes (10%, 8% and 16%) are accommodated through the arrangement of the room. The fact that a triangular structure has been used (taking advantage of the slope), as well as the use of concrete slab lightened with rice husk, reduces its weight by 9 times. This generates a semi-opened structure for less than 100$ per sqm. Qualities such as the flexibility and lightness of the cane, the polycarbonate veil, the reflective glazing, the enveloping of the concrete and the feel of the brick, the protection from the mesh and the continuity of the stone all work together to achieve the development of a volume which prestige relies on the quantity of space generated.

Una estructura de caña guadua envuelve el núcleo central de ladrillo a modo de andamiaje, construyendo tres tramos de diferente inclinación (10%, 8%, y 16%) que se adaptan al programa correspondiente. El desarrollo en rampa de la estructura permite la triangulación de la misma, y el uso de losas de hormigón aligeradas con cascarilla de arroz reduce en 9 toneladas su peso, generando una estructura semiabierta que permite construir a menos de 100$ el m2. La flexibilidad y ligereza de la caña, el velo del policarbonato, los reflejos del vidrio, la contención del hormigón, el tacto del ladrillo, la seguridad de la malla, y la permanencia de la piedra, colaboran en la construcción de un volumen cuya calidad reside, principalmente, en la cantidad de espacio generado.
